Renault Twizy joins Dubai police's fleet of supercars

Renault Twizy is set to become the latest addition to the Dubai police's collection of exclusive patrol cars. Other vehicles in the collection include the Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF and Mercedes-Benz SLS –and now Twizy will give officers a zero-emission alternative for getting around the city.

The police force in Dubai is known for its tourist-friendly fleet of luxury sports cars, which are used to enforce the law, notably for chasing speeding drivers. Now, the police will be able to put Twizy's famous agility and versatility to use in the fight against crime. Thanks to its compact size, Twizy can go down narrow streets and passageways that are inaccessible to  many of the other vehicles. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Lieutenant General and Chief of the Dubai Police Force, certainly seemed to appreciate the Twizy's smooth handling in a recent test drive.

With this purchase, Dubai becomes the latest municipality to equip its police force with an electric vehicle. The West Midlands Police in the UK recently acquired 30 Nissan LEAFs, while the village of Saint-Michel-sur-Meurthe in north-east France purchased a Renault ZOE.
