Why we need better technology communication

Why we need better technology communication

We have just held our fourth Alliance Week – a chance for Nissan and Renault engineers to get together and learn about what the others are doing and the progress that is being made on a number of projects.

Alliance Week is a strategic exchange of people which can be further developed into the future, perhaps involving Daimler and AvtoVAZ. That will come later! After all, the Renault Nissan Alliance is now 10 years old and only after this amount of time can we have such exchanges.

This year the get together was in Paris and the Alliance Week has allowed us to learn that maybe we can communicate our technologies better. We can give each other a holistic view of our engineering, the products and the technologies.

What impresses me about the Alliance Week is that it is not about presenting a Renault or Nissan view but gives an insight into how each company works and the processes involved. We learn a little more every time we do this.

People need to understand the background and way of thinking. The Alliance Week has its foundation in getting to know each other – that is the starting point.

Engineers from both companies can think about sustainable mobility and help each other more effectively and more efficiently. The challenge is to be more open-minded in communicating our technologies to other departments and to our customers.

When we at Renault can see what is going on at Nissan, it opens our eyes. It also works the other way.

This was the first time all the corporate officers had made a presentation, giving a complete and holistic view of Nissan and Renault activities. It was a good opportunity for Renault people to learn what’s going on at Nissan and vice-versa.

By getting more engineers together like this we can all get to know each other more personally. This cannot always been done by video conferencing.
