Working together towards a sustainable and zero-emission society
In its newly released Sustainability Report, the Nissan Motor Company spells out the successes reaped and the challenges tackled by its 14 year old Alliance with Renault.

Indeed, about 1 out of 10 new cars sold worldwide in 2012 can be attributed to the Alliance, which is a considerable leap from their 2011 stats.

Such figures can be explained by the duo’s determination towards achieving a zero-emission target for their cars and by their ability to recognize and react to contemporary environmental needs. The main goal of the Alliance is to promote the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs), a project that is very much underway with the unmistakable popularity of the Nissan LEAF (Learn more about the latest Nissan LEAF 2013 model). There are also other EVs to look forward to, such as the all-electric commercial van e-NV200 or the Venucia e30 that was spearheaded by the Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company Alliance in China.

Such developments in the field of sustainable mobility point to a continued collaboration between like-minded companies towards achieving a zero-emission society. This collaboration is also extended to partnering up with local and national governments, concretized through the use of the Nissan LEAF as a taxi vehicle in major cities such as New York (see picture), Amsterdam, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and Guangzhou China. Moreover, there are planned implementations of quick charging stations in Japan for EVs, which will further encourage the use of environmental friendly vehicles.

Other huge projects that can be expected is the mass commercialization of  Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), which are basically powered by electricity generated by oxygen and hydrogen and only emit water during driving. This project is a collaborative one and brings together technological innovators such as Daimler, Ford and the Renault-Nissan Alliance. 2017 is the date to remember if you want to get your hands on one of these ecologically friendly and trendy automobiles!

This Report clearly demonstrates that the Alliance is bent on providing a holistic sustainable experience for its customers through developing EVs that drastically reduce emissions and use renewable forms of energy. With such exciting developments in perspective, a green and ecological future seems foreseeable, and better yet, achievable.
