The human race, Alliance-style
Nineteen men and women from the Renault-Nissan Alliance are on their way from Paris to Togliatti in Russia and they are doing it the hard way… they are running the 4,000 kms between the two cities. The event is expected to last 17 days (and nights!) and was flagged off by Alliance Managing Director Christian Mardrus at the Atelier Renault in the Champs Elysées on Friday (13 September).

Organised as a relay race, the 19 heroes are split into three teams with individuals running between 10 and 15km each before handing over to a colleague. As one team runs, the other two teams either sleep or are transported further along the route ready for their next stint.

They are doing it to promote human values and team spirit  within the Alliance and to highlight the power of the partnership.

Togliatti, 1,000kms south of Moscow, is home to the AVTOVAZ manufacturing complex.
The plant currently produces the LADA Largus minivan and the Nissan Almera sedan, with three more models (including a Renault) due soon. When running at full capacity, the plant will produce 1.7 million cars every year.

Russia is a vital market for the Alliance. Last year Renault-Nissan and AVTOVAZ sold more than 890,000 cars between them, taking almost a third of the entire market. Lada models alone accounted for more than 530,000 units.
