New fast-charging stations at IKEA help extend the French network

Electric vehicle owners in France now have around 100 more charging points in urban areas, following a partnership between Nissan and the Swedish retailer IKEA.

At the end of June, eleven IKEA stores in France were equipped with charging points, allowing EV drivers to charge their vehicles at no cost during opening hours.

Produced by the French company DBT-CEV, the chargers are compatible with both AC and CHAdeMO DC standards, meaning they can be used by a large range of EVs, including the Nissan Leaf and Renault ZOE. For many vehicles, the battery can be recharged in less than half an hour.

With locations all over France (the Paris area, Avignon, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Reims, Rouen and Tours), these new stations are a significant boost to the national network of fast-charging points, while also contributing to Nissan's strategy of developing electric corridors across France.

IKEA has recently shown its commitment to sustainable mobility by signing a partnership with Autolib, the Paris area's EV sharing service. Its partnership with Nissan could be further strengthened in the near future, with the two partners studying the possibility of implementing additional charging stations later in 2013.
