For Nissan LEAF owners in the Netherlands, charging is about to get faster and easier. Drivers will soon benefit from a new network of 38 electric vehicle quick-charge stations across the country thanks to a partnership between Nissan and The New Motion, a Dutch company that specializes in mobility solutions powered by renewable energy.

The first of the 38 stations has just been inaugurated at the CS New Babylon Q-Park in The Hague.

 Located next to the city's central station, this 1250-capacity car park is the first in the Netherlands to be equipped with a quick charger, allowing EV owners to replenish a partly discharged battery to 80% capacity within 15 minutes. A spent battery, meanwhile, requires just 30 minutes to reach 80%.

Over the next few months, further fast chargers will be installed at strategically-positioned car parks throughout the country as part of the so-called "love to load" network. Nissan LEAF owners can follow the development of new stations on a dedicated website (www.leafhebbers.nl) and will be pleased to hear they can use the quick chargers free of charge until May 31, 2013.

This latest initiative follows a similar project in Belgium, where Nissan also partnered with The New Motion to help extend the country's network of rapid chargers. When the 25 charging stations are all in place, Belgian EV drivers will be able to cross the entire country without any problem.  By the end of the year, the same should be true for Dutch EV owners.
