What happens when two green practices meet? A merged service is created that lets consumers have the best of both worlds: convenience and eco-responsibility. Such is the case with the advent of electric car sharing, a natural evolution of existing car sharing programs that is sweeping the globe.

Soon, Malaysia will be in on the action too. CMS Consortium will begin an electric vehicle car sharing program in August, called Cohesive Mobility Solution (COMOS), which will offer consumers, among others, three electric vehicles from Renault and Nissan: the Renault Zoe, the Renault Twizy, and the Nissan Leaf.
 
The program was announced on May 7 in Putrajaya at a soft launch event, where the cars and prototypes of the rental and charging stations were displayed.
 
According to organizers, COMOS aims to integrate various parts of the “EV ecosystem and value chain”, which includes EV charging providers, fleet operators, parking management and telecommunications network operators, in order to provide a seamless public transport experience. This will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumptions, said the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
 
This initiative is the first of its kind in Malaysia and in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).
