The Renault-Nissan Alliance Hails ‘The Stuff of Life’

In preparation for the 2011 TEDGlobal conference- as conference sponsors- Alliance activities gather pace this weekend. We have come to Edinburgh to join what is one of the most prestigious conferences for thought-leaders and creative thinking.

The 2011 TEDGlobal runs from July 11-15 in Edinburgh, UK, with the theme ‘The Stuff of Life’. TED started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment and Design. A nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading”, TED conferences have become must-attend events for “early adopters” in worldwide industry and academia – including advocates of sustainability.

Supporting sustainability and early adopters of innovative vehicles underpins the tangible support that the Alliance is providing for the TED conference and its attendees. The Renault Twizy and Nissan LEAF 100% electric vehicles will be displayed in the conference venue for delegates to get to know and discuss, and Renault Fluence and Nissan LEAF cars will provide  zero emission travel to attendees throughout the event.

Hideaki Watanabe, Corporate Vice President of the Zero Emission Business Unit at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Renault-Nissan Alliance Managing Director, Zero Emission Business summed up the significance of the Alliance sponsorship.
“TEDGlobal is an inspirational five days of thought-provoking presentations designed to provide genuine hope for the future. Similarly, the electric vehicles from the Alliance are the auto industry’s hope for a future where we are no longer dependent on a single, non-renewable form of energy. It’s an excellent partnership."
