Sustainability and innovation showcased at Paris Motor Show
Sustainability and innovation are key ingredients at the Renault and Nissan stands of this year's Paris Motor Show (4-19 October). Visitors to the biennial French auto show can see first-hand how both companies are transforming motoring with ecological, user-friendly technology.
Renault is taking the opportunity to showcase its EOLAB Concept. This new prototype car limits emissions to just 22 g of CO2/km and boasts a fuel consumption rate of 1 liter/100 km, offering visitors a glimpse of an ultra-efficient future. In terms of design, the EOLAB features breakthrough aerodynamics that reduce drag by 30%, materials that deliver significant weight savings, and a Z.E. Hybrid powertrain that offers all-electric mobility for trips of up to 60 km (37 miles).
Other zero-emission initiatives to come under the spotlight in Paris include Renault's involvement in the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship. As well as sponsoring the e.dams-Renault team, which is co-owned by former F1 drivers Jean-Paul Driot and Alain Prost, Renault helped develop the Spark-Renault SRT-01E car, which will be used by every competitor in the new championship. The investment made in this pioneering project should help Renault improve the performance and range of its Z.E. vehicles in the future.
Nissan, meanwhile, is in Paris looking back on a highly successful year of zero-emission sales. The Nissan LEAF, the world's best-selling electric car, has a customer satisfaction rating of 95%, the highest for any Nissan product. As part of its EV offering, the company recently launched the Nissan e-NV200 van, which is perfectly adapted for inner city deliveries. Fleet deals have already been signed with British Gas, Orange and DHL Italy.
The Nissan stand provides visitors will plenty of opportunities to discover its most recent technology, with the NissanConnect NISMO Plus making its first public appearance in Paris. This powerful telemetry system allows users to recreate their driving performance via Sony Computer Entertainment's Grand Turismo 6 game – and then analyze their technique.
Technology is also at the heart of a new Nissan partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), announced at the Paris show. Thanks to its industry-leading safety technologies, such as the award-winning Nissan Safety Shield system, Nissan has long been active in promoting driver safety. With this new partnership, the company aims to continue raising awareness and improving road safety all over the world.
