Booming new car sales in Russia have seen the world’s manufacturers scrabbling for a slice of the action. But as these newcomers arrive, they are discovering that Renault has something of a head start… the French firm has been building and selling cars in Russia for nearly 100 years: it opened its first factory in the country in 1916.

Moscow buzz: Nissan executive on Nissan's plans for the booming Russia market

Nissan Vice President Andy Palmer comments on the new upscale Almera sedan unveiled at the Moscow International Auto Show. Nissan’s first car designed for the Russian market goes on sale in 2013 and will be built at the Alliance Togliatti plant.
Palmer also talks about Nissan plans for its entry-level Datsun cars, which will also be produced at the Togliatti plant, and his outlook for the overall Russian market.
