After a successful year long trial, the running of Renault’s innovative Twizy Way car-sharing scheme in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, has been handed to specialist operator KEYMOOV. The handover was completed on September 25th and the Twizy Way becomes the third car-sharing scheme in France purely for electric vehicles after Autolib in Paris and Autoblue in Nice.

Twizy Way, based around the electric urban two-seater, is perfect for Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, a new town created in 1960s to the south west of Paris. Renault closely monitored the trial, which started in 2012, and the experience gained has allowed the company to fine tune the service better to match customer requirements.

Thierry Viadieu, Renault Director of Cross-Functional Mobility Services and Equipment Programme, said: “The trial allowed us to understand how customers used the cars, to discover how a car-sharing service is managed and to adjust our offer accordingly.”

The trial also allowed Renault to develop its ‘car-sharing pre-equipment’ allowing other operators to integrate both the Renault Twizy and the acclaimed electric Renault ZOE into their car-sharing programmes as easily as possible.

The pre-equipment allows for the simple integration of the car-sharing operator’s information system in the vehicle, by providing direct access to the data required to manage the service. This will allow Renault’s Z.E. models to be introduced seamlessly into car-sharing fleets operated by private companies and local authorities.

The move comes as Renault is confirmed Europe’s top selling manufacturer of electric vehicles. It accounts for almost 50 per cent of the EV market, without counting Twizy.
