The O2 Chair -  a massage chair already found on aircraft and a Le Mans car - could become part of the autonomous drive landscape. The Renault Nissan Alliance, which plans to release more than ten autonomous drive models by 2020, is one automaker studying its application in its cars.

Behold the O2 Chair, a massage chair found on deep-breath, deep-dive into relaxation.

The brainseat of French firm INNOVZEN, the O2 Chair is designed for a variety of moving - and sedentary - experiences.

Breathing trainer Dan Brule says this is a much healthier choice than road rage or coffee.

Dan Brule, Breathing Trainer: 

"Instead of pulling over for a cup of coffee, you can pull over and breathe, and energize, and wake yourself up."

Already available on aircraft and a Le Mans race car, the O2 Chair could be part of the autonomous vehicle landscape, as autonomous drive technology comes to ten models across the Renault-Nissan Alliance by 2020.

Benedicte Le Nindre, Strategy Director, Renault Services and Cross-Car Line Static Performances: 

"When you will be in autonomous driving, we know that a lot of customers would like to revert time to get relaxed in the car. So, we can imagine, and the Alliance is thinking about that - how we could take a technology like the O2 Chair, put it inside the car and offer new experiences."

Tina Song, a journalist from Shanghai at the Alliance Innovation Tour in Silicon Valley, says bringing the seats to her own congested city would be bliss.

The hands-free massage chair is on its own autonomous drive from France, with global rest stops now planned for the U.S. and China.
