Inside Davos

Inside Davos

As the World Economic Forum began its second day in Davos, CEO Carlos Ghosn kicked it off with seven interviews with broadcast media with audiences spanning the world. He started with CNBC's Maria Bartiromo live on Squwak Box followed by a taping for her program later in the day. The backdrop of the Swiss Alps was as breathtaking as the minus 12 degree weather in which Ghosn and Bartiromo sat, a white cloud of dialogue between them as Ghosn described what we can expect for the car industry in 2011.

Post-dinner conversation in Davos

Post-dinner conversation in Davos

Hertz's Jack Hidary thinks in LEAF-fuls. Last night took two LEAF-fuls of individuals related to Silicon Valley (venture capitalists, journalists and other business folks) to dinner at a remote Swiss chalet. The post-dinner conversation? Probably all about EVs. Through Hertz, Hidary is collaborating with B-2-B and B-2-C ventures that span three continents in the cities of New York, San Fransciso, London, Paris, Shanghai and Beijing. He's waiting for his LEAF orders to get all locations up and running.

Ambitious Amsterdam points to a zero-emission future

Ambitious Amsterdam points to a zero-emission future

The news today (Sept 22) that the city of Amsterdam has become the latest zero-emission partner of the Renault-Nissan Alliance is indeed welcome and further evidence that the Alliance’s holistic approach to a zero-emission future is one that has broad appeal.

We now have worldwide partnership agreements in more than 20 countries and more than 30 cities where the administration is determined to do everything they can to ensure a cleaner, greener future for their citizens without having to sacrifice mobility. The countries include Portugal, Ireland, the US, China and many more.

Amsterdam is being particularly ambitious and has agreed with the Alliance that it wants to register at least 1,000 EV sales by the end of 2011. This will start with the Nissan LEAF from February for fleet customers followed by individual customers from June while Renault Fluence and Kangoo deliveries will start soon after.
