ZOE drives the change for Renault

Renault’s new ZOE electric city car is taking pride of place alongside the new Clio at the Paris Motor Show this week.

Revealed by Alliance boss Carlos Ghosn to a huge number of journalists from all over the world, ZOE not only wears Renault’s new ‘face’, it embodies the company’s progress in four areas: design, innovation, environment and quality.

The fourth of Renault’s quartet of electric vehicles, Zoe joins Kangoo Z.E., Fluence Z.E. and Twizy to give the company the broadest range of EVs of any manufacturer. ZOE is especially important as it is the first purpose-designed mass-produced compact city car from any car maker with zero emission battery power. It has a range of more than 200 km and arrives in showrooms with no direct rival.

Mr Ghosn praised the car’s ‘purity and simplicity’ and underlined the innovation, not just in its zero emissions technology, but also in the R-Link console. This is an integrated multimedia tablet, standard on all ZOE models, that is connected to the car and to the internet with standard features including satellite navigation with intuitive voice command operation.

It also showcases Renault’s Chameleon battery charger, meaning it's the first electric vehicle that can be fully charged in between 30 minutes and nine hours depending on the power available at the charging station (between 3kW and 43kW) using a single type of connection.
