The Alliance is running an EV shuttle for the United Nations at Rio+20. Kathleen Abdalla, Chief of the organization and logistics of Rio+20 at the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, comments after the shuttle handover ceremony and tells us how electric mobility is an important contributor to advancing the goals of sustainable development.

A fleet of electric vehicles from the Renault-Nissan Alliance will shuttle United Nations delegates at its Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, the world’s largest environmental summit.

More than 50,000 delegates, including 400 from the UN, are expected to attend the summit - nicknamed “Rio+20” - to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the United Nations’ Earth Summit in Rio, where countries agreed to a blueprint for economic growth, social equity and environmental protection.

Close to the RioCentro Convention Center where most of the high-level Rio+20 talks are taking place, you will find the HSBC Arena. Zero-emission vehicles will have a role to play at the upcoming United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development - also known as Rio+20 - in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

From June 13-22, a fleet of electric vehicles from the Alliance - Nissan LEAF, Renault Kangoo Z.E. and Renault Fluence Z.E. - will be used for shuttling UN delegates in and around the city. The vehicles will also be made available to the delegates for test driving.

A pair of Nissan LEAF zero-emission electric taxis has hit the streets of Brazil’s biggest city.

In a sign of just how central China has become to global automakers, Infiniti this month opened its new headquarters in Hong Kong in part to be closer to its second largest market after the U.S.

In addition to this, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd and the City of Xiangyang recently announced that two Infiniti models will be manufactured locally at the Xiangyang plant starting in 2014.

The Infiniti brand continues to strengthen its product lineup and expand its sales network to satisfy customers in the growing Chinese luxury segment.

Answer: none of them (it’s a trick question!). All are starring at the 65th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, in the South of France.

Renault has had a long association with the world’s most famous film festival and has been the sole official car maker partner for almost 30 years. But this year is different as the stars are being whisked up to the red carpet in emission-free silence courtesy of a fleet of Renault Fluence Z.E. saloons.

The news that Nissan’s second all-electric vehicle will be built in Barcelona is another timely boost for the Spanish economy from the Japanese manufacturer.

The e-NV200 van will be based on the multi-award winning NV200, which is currently being produced at the same plant.

The partnership between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler has reached a milestone with the groundbreaking on a new manufacturing facility in Decherd, Tennessee.

The new facility – located at the existing Nissan powertrain assembly complex – will produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cylinder gasoline engines for Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz models.
