On Jan. 13, Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn hosted a media roundtable at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. During the roundtable, Ghosn fielded questions from reporters on various topics including his outlook for the global auto market in 2015, China, Russia, as well as electric vehicles and autonomous drive cars.

Nissan and NASA partner to jointly develop and deploy autonomous drive vehicles by end of year
The all-electric Nissan Leaf fitted with autonomous drive equipment allowed to park at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
Nissan Motor Co., through its North American-based organization, and NASA announced on January 9th the formation of a five-year research and development partnership to advance autonomous vehicle systems and prepare for commercial application of the technology.

Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Japan selects Carlos Ghosn as Person of the Year 2014

The Chamber of Commerce of Brazil in Japan (CCBJ) has named Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, its Person of the Year 2014. This award is given annually to an individual who makes a notable contribution to strengthening the economic relationship between Brazil and Japan.

Renault-Dongfeng, one year later
One year after the creation of Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (DRAC), Renault’s joint venture with Dongfeng, the Group is on target to launch its first locally manufactured vehicle in China in 2016.
 
Work on the plant in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, is moving forward according to schedule. Construction of the facility has been completed, and the assembly lines are currently being installed.

Yasuhiro Yamauchi has been appointed Alliance Executive Vice President, Purchasing and Chairman & Managing Director of Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization (RNPO), effective  Jan. 1, 2015. Yamauchi replaces Christian Vandenhende who is appointed Executive Vice President, Quality and Total Customer Satisfaction, Renault.
