Renault invests in Big Data to boost driver safety

The future of road safety has been bolstered by a new initiative from Renault that aims to collect and analyze unprecedented amounts of data on driver behavior. In partnership with PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault has established a Laboratory of Accidentology and Biomechanics (LAB) that investigates precisely why and how accidents occur – and proposes solutions to prevent their reoccurrence.

Nissan delivers 50,000th all-electric LEAF in U.S. to Texas family

Nissan, the global leader in electric vehicle (EV) sales, achieved another milestone this month as Dallas residents Todd and Lisa Bolt made Nissan LEAF the first all-electric model to hit 50,000 sales in the U.S. The Bolt family took delivery of their black LEAF SL earlier this month at AutoNation Nissan of Lewisville.

It’s a case of lights, camera, action for Renault as the company takes a starring role at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from 14-25 May.

As well as providing more than 200 vehicles – double the number used last year – to chauffeur the stars to screenings and press calls, Renault is presenting a film of its own at the famous festival. The Innovators, a 12-minute ‘short’ with a futuristic theme, celebrates the centenary of the birth of Charlie Chaplin and stars two suitably futuristic Renaults – Twizy and the Twin’Z concept.

Datsun, a brand of Nissan Motor Corporation, just launched its first Datsun car for the Indonesian market, the Datsun GO+, at its new plant in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia. The new 60,000-m2 plant – with engine assembly, body, paint, trim and chassis – will be dedicated to the production of Datsun cars for Indonesia.
