Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn tests Autonomous Drive at CEATEC
Ahead of demonstrations to the public at CEATEC JAPAN 2013 CEO Carlos Ghosn has experienced the latest developments in Nissan's breakthrough Autonomous Drive technology.
 
Mr. Ghosn visited the exhibition – Japan's largest for IT and electronics – at the Mahukari Messe convention center outside Tokyo to ride in a Nissan LEAF equipped with the system. CEATEC runs from October 1-5 and members of the public will be able to see Nissan's Autonomous Drive vehicles in action for the first time.

Nissan CEO Ghosn at Autonomous Drive Wheel

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn sat in the driver’s seat for a test of Nissan’s latest Autonomous Drive car prototype ahead of technology exhibition  CEATEC JAPAN 2013, which opened on Tuesday.

After not quite taking the wheel, CEO Ghosn spoke to the Global Media Center, reaffirming plans to introduce self-driving cars by 2020.

Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn and Daimler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche held a briefing on Sept. 11 at the Frankfurt motor show to update the media on the progress of their companies’ three-and-a-half year strategic partnership.
 
Ghosn said that the partnership, which began in April 2010 to increase economies of scale for all three companies, has expanded to the point where ‘it is part of our corporate DNA’.

Clean Energy, Clean Cars, Clean Planet (by Carlos Ghosn)

As leaders from the world’s largest economies converge in Northern Ireland for the upcoming G8 Summit, we must focus on two interconnected subjects of vital importance: clean energy and clean cars. In so doing, we will pave the way for a cleaner planet.

Today, we rely primarily on fossil fuels to meet our growing demand for energy. Three hydrocarbons -- oil, coal and natural gas – provide 87% of global energy demand. The scientific community overwhelmingly agrees that overuse of fossil fuels has contributed to global warming. These fuels are finite and non-renewable; by definition, they will not last forever.

Carlos Ghosn visits Oslo, the European capital of electric vehicles

On Monday 8th April, Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn hosted an intimate gathering of media in Oslo, Europe's electric vehicle capital, and spoke about the new Nissan LEAF and his vision of zero-emissions mobility. 

"The momentum is building around electric cars," said Mr. Ghosn. Sales of the Nissan LEAF surpassed 1,300 vehicles in March in Europe, and exceeded 2,200 in March in the United States.
