François Bancon, in charge of product strategy and planning for Nissan, looks at the future for electric vehicles

As the name implies, Pivo 3 is the third Nissan concept in the Pivo range. Now starring at the Paris Motor Show, Pivo 3 is a pure electric city car, compact, nimble and, of course, producing no tailpipe emissions at all.

It could, according to Bancon, go into production tomorrow. Will it? “I’m not going to answer that question,” he laughs.

What about the other electric vehicle concept from Nissan at the show, the four-wheel drive TeRRA? It combines Nissan’s expertise in crossover and EV know-how but with its hydrogen fuel cell stack represents tomorrow’s technology. “The fuel cell is the future,” he says, “but we don’t know when.”

Nissan commits to an electric future

No-one should doubt Nissan’s commitment to zero emission mobility and to the electric car. That was the message coming loud and clear from Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer at the Paris Motor Show this week.

As he revealed the TeRRA, an advanced fuel cell electric SUV concept, to journalists from all over the world, Palmer forecast that ‘in less than a generation’s time, there will be millions of EVs on the roads.’
