Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd. today announced that the replacement for the current Nissan Micra compact car will be manufactured at a Renault plant in Europe. Due to start production in 2016, the vehicle will be exported across Europe’s left-hand drive markets.

The Renault Flins plant, located near Paris, France, was selected by Renault to produce the next-generation Nissan Micra. Production will begin in 2016 at an estimated annual volume of 82,000 vehicles.

China is the Renault-Nissan Alliance's biggest market in the world. Last year, the Alliance sold more than 1.2 million units in China, giving it a market share of 6.6%. The majority of the sales were generated by Nissan, which set up a manufacturing presence in China in twenty years ago.

A cheesemaker's quest to turn his business totally carbon neutral has been made possible by Nissan. Deliveries of Winterdale cheese to customers including Fortnum & Mason, The Goring and Biddenden Vineyard, are now being made using a 100% electric Nissan LEAF, finally making the cheese fully sustainable.

To celebrate Earth Day, Nissan and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg today launched a new electric vehicle taxi pilot with the world’s bestselling electric car, Nissan LEAF.
